The pathway of our founder, Perry Evans, seems to have been hand-crafted for the development of Closely Inc.! Having led the formation and development of MapQuest, Jabber and Local Matters over the past 15 years, Perry has been a true pioneer in the progression of location-based publishing, real-time messaging and local search. Perry recruited a select team that shared his passion and brought depth to the key pieces of the puzzle for Closely, Inc. Offline, Perry can be seen screaming during Colorado Avalanche games, true to his Canadian roots, which seems to clear his brain and (thankfully) maintain a cool demeanor at work!

The Close.ly journey for Tom Bender has taken a long, circuitous route through numerous advanced technology solutions including everything from automated trading systems to wireless networks and satellite scheduling systems. Tom has worked with companies large and small. Including General Motors, Ford Motor, Boeing, Goldman Sachs, Citicorp, Jabber, and most recently with Tendril Networks. Tom brings a unique blend of technical and business talent and a proven track record of success to lead our gifted and talented engineering team. When not working closely with Internet technology, Tom enjoys hanging out with his family, riding his dual sport motor bike through the Utah desert, backcountry skiing in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado or frolicking in the waters of the great lakes region.

Internet startups are in the blood of co-founder Karyn German. Karyn caught the bug in 1995 with Cyberspace Development and never looked back. launching numerous products at companies including Affinia, Xaffire, Jabber and NewsGator. Karyn’s extensive experience with social media and real-time technologies comes in handy as she leads product management and client services at Closely. Karyn is the office fitness freak and health nut, spending her free time hiking, cycling, and putting in the obligatory gym time. Karyn’s other favorite past-time is Texas Hold’em poker – at work and at the tables, she’s all-in!
